PATTERN NOTES:
These socks are knitted flat and sewn together. The embroidery is optional and you can chose to follow the LOVE or HUG charts before sewing the edges of your sock shut.

These very easy slip-ons madeleine socks are knitted in a DK weight yarn and fits a 0-3 month old baby.(8cm long)

MATERIALS:
25g DK weight machine washable yarn
200cm / 78” of contrast colour yarn for the duplicate st embroidery
3mm / 2.5US circular or straight needles and a darning needle

TENSION:
26 sts x 35 rows in st st before blocking

ssk: slip one stitch knitwise, slip a second stitch knitwise, pass both stitches back onto your left hand needle and knit them together through the back loop

 SOCK PATTERN: (Make two)
Leaving a 30cm / 12” tail, CO 15 sts, using the long tail cast-on technique.
*Knit 3 rows.
Inc row) K1, kfb, K to last 2 sts, kfb, K1*
Rep from * to * two more times (21 sts on needle)

Knit 8 rows.
*Dec row) K1, ssk, K to 3 sts bef end of rown, K2tog, K1.
Knit 3 rows.*
Rep from * to * once more.

Next row) K1, ssk, K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1. (15 sts on needle)
You will now start working in st st.
CO 8 sts.
Next row) K8, k1tbl, K to end of row.
Purl one row.
Inc row) K to 2 sts bef end of row, kfb, K1.
Work 3 rows.
Inc row) K to 2 sts bef end of row, kfb, K1. (25 sts on needle)
Purl one row.

Cast off 12 sts, K to end of row. (13 sts on needle)
Work 3 rows.
CO 12 sts (25 sts on needle)
Next row) K12, k1tbl, K to end of row.
Purl 1 row.
Dec row) K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1.
Work 3 rows.
Dec row) K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1. (23 sts on needle)
Purl 1 row.

Using 100cm / 39” of contrasting DK or sport weight yarn and following the GTWAHug Baby Sock Chart, embroider the word Love on one side of the sock.
Cast off all sts and leaving a 36cm / 14” tail, sew the sock sides and back shut.
Hand wash your sock and let it dry.
